Frequently Asked Questions About DSB's Paper Bags
Having the opportunity to speak with all of you from time to time I often find myself answering the same questions more than once. It is the purpose of this article to begin to clarify some of the many questions that I get about our paper bags.
Question #1 - How much weight do our paper bags hold?
Good Question, however there is no definitive answer to that. What matters most is if the paper bag has been punctured, how the bag is loaded and if the paper bag is packed to the brim. Shopping bags or SOS bags should be placed on a flat surface, opened fully and carefully packed with extra care taken not to puncture the sides. In addition some of the causes for paper bag failure is overfilling. Be sure not to overfill the bag. No matter how strong paper bags are, if the bag is overfilled it may break.
Question #2 - How are paper bags measured?
Very carefully!!!! Take the paper bag and put the opening at the top. Now measure the front of the bag, that's left to right. If the paper bags you want have a gusset or side fold, now is the time to measure that. Remember in most all cases the side fold (gusset) and the bottom fold should be exactly the same. That's not to say you can have different dimensions for those parts of the bag but that will be in another article. OK, now you have the front and the side of the paper bags measured, that leaves us with the height. Take your ruler and now measure from top to bottom not to include the handles if there are any.
Question #3 - How do you identify which of the paper baqs that you want?
Shopping Bag - ALWAYS has a handle, ALWAYS has a flat or square bottom.
Merchandise Bag - Does NOT have a handle, may or may not have a side gusset and does not have a flat bottom.
SOS Bag - Does NOT have a handle, but other than that looks pretty much like a shopping bag.
Many of you who have shopped the internet are discovering that shopping bags have different names based upon size. While those names do represent specific sizes the names are proprietary to specific manufactures. When looking for a particular bag be sure to have the size rather than the name.
I've decided to stop here rather than bombard you all with more information. Please read carefully what I've said here, you never know when you will be tested. I will be adding to this article as time permits. Should you have any questions of a particular nature, please do not hesitate in emailing us at info@discountshoppingbags.com.
